Thank You To The Community

In 2021, Taylor voters made a bold investment in our schools by approving a $130 million bond—one of the largest in Metro Detroit. At the heart of this investment is renovating Taylor High School—our top priority to ensure students and staff have a safe, modern, and supportive place to learn. Alongside this, the bond is upgrading learning environments across the district, improving facilities, and strengthening our schools for years to come.

While the path forward has not been without challenges, we are now entering this next phase with renewed focus and commitment. This reset allows us to build on lessons learned, remain transparent with our community, and ensure projects move forward responsibly and effectively.

The upgrades taking place at Taylor Schools reflect more than bricks and mortar—they represent our dedication to keeping students at the center of every decision. With this reset, we are excited for students and staff to experience the benefits of these improvements firsthand and for our community to see their investment shaping a stronger future.

Bond Information

  • Big projects take strong partners!

    • Sache Construction and Development Company, L.L.C. is managing construction at the Athletic Fields.
    • The Collaborative Group is our project architect.
    • Barton Malow Builders serves as the district’s owner’s representative—making sure projects stay on track, within budget, and aligned with our goals.

  • We’re putting your investment to work!

    Current priorities include:

    • Improving High School Building Conditions
Making sure the building itself is up-to-date and comfortable for students and staff.
    • Upgrading Athletic Facilities at Taylor High School
New improvements are on the way for the baseball and softball fields and tennis courts. Bids are in, and construction is expected to begin this spring.
    • Projects Already Underway
      • High School Mechanical Control Upgrade – boosting efficiency and comfort.

    Completed projects include:

    • Holland, Myers, and McDowell Elementary Schools – Multiple renovations were completed to accommodate students transitioning from a recently closed building. These updates ensured that students had the space, resources, and learning environments they needed right away.
  • Several bond-funded projects were completed or continued throughout the 2026 summer.

At Holland Elementary School, new classroom ventilation windows were installed to improve indoor air quality, while Myers Elementary School received acoustic enhancements in STEM classrooms to create more comfortable learning spaces. Additional districtwide work included roof replacements at multiple facilities parking lot improvements at Blair Moody Elementary School and Johnson Preschool, new lighting and ceiling tile upgrades at West Middle School, and HVAC improvements are scheduled to begin this winter at Hoover Middle School.

Improvements at the Taylor High School Athletic Complex are underway and phased to prioritize the football/soccer field. Visitors to the site will enjoy synthetic turf and new stadium lights at the athletic field, durable concrete tennis courts, new baseball and softball fields and dugouts, concession and toilet room buildings, and stormwater infrastructure to improve field drainage.

    Looking Forward

Design also continues for mechanical upgrades at Middle School and the Taylor High School redesign, one of the largest components of the bond program. The middle school mechanical project will be bid this fall for summer 2027 work.  The high school project team has completed the initial design phase after gathering input from teachers, administrators, and staff to help create learning spaces that support today’s educational needs. The project is midway through design and anticipates moving into the bidding process this Winter for a three-year, multi-phased renovation starting at the end of Summer in 2027.

Every project is focused on creating safer, more efficient, and engaging spaces for students while being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars. We appreciate the community’s continued support as we work to deliver on the promises of the 2021 Bond Program.

  • Every decision we make with bond dollars is focused on one thing: student success.

By making smart, timely investments, we’re ensuring that:

    • Facilities are safe, modern, and welcoming.
    • Learning environments support every student’s growth.
    • Taxpayer dollars are used responsibly and transparently.

  • Your voice matters. District leaders, along with our partners, have shaped project plans—and the community will continue to have opportunities to share input along the way.

  • The bond is about more than buildings—it’s about people. Every dollar we spend is an investment in our students’ future and the Taylor community. Together, we’re Educating, Engaging, and Empowering ALL students—today and for generations to come.
